About the Position: Positions will be located at the San Antonio, Texas office.

Health System Specialists provide support within Defense Health Agency by analyzing, evaluating, advising, and/or coordinating health delivery systems and operations.

These positions require specialized knowledge of the basic principles and practices related to the management of health care delivery systems.

This is a Direct Hire Solicitation through the Direct Hire for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) interpreting policies to develop standardized procedures across medical facilities; 2) analyzing healthcare delivery issues to identify trends or patterns; AND 3) recommending optimization or operational improvements based on healthcare trends or forecasts.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Major Duties:

  • Evaluate policies and procedures to ensure optimization of health care delivery.
  • Recommend strategies to improve beneficiary access to care, reduce administrative redundancies, or optimize cost-effectiveness of health care delivery.
  • Implement changes to improve health center or military treatment facility operations.
  • Develop standardized processes for implementation across a network of medical facilities.
  • Organize data from analyses to formulate actionable proposals.
  • Conduct process improvement studies.
  • Monitor improvement efforts to determine efficacy of program implementations.
