Base salary range: $74,441 - $96,770

Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves working as a health physicist at a Navy center in Bethesda, Maryland, where you'll design, test, and evaluate equipment that measures radiation exposure to protect people and the environment.
You'll apply physics principles to ensure devices are reliable and effective for monitoring radiation in military settings.

You will serve as a Health Physicist in the Physical Medicine Department of NAV DOSIMETRY CENTER BETHESDA.
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Examples of Qualifying Experience include: 1) Applying knowledge in the areas of radiation dosimetry, the principles of radiation detection and measurements; 2) Professional, scientific, or technical training which has demonstrated capacity for sound independent work primarily in the application of professional knowledge and competence in the field of health physics concerned with the protection of persons and their environment from unwarranted exposure to ionizing radiation; 3) Skilled in reading and interpreting numerous public policies, regulations and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to make recommendations for changing and advancing policies and SOPs; and 4) Strong understanding/skill in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel), basic programming and utilization of databases.
