This job involves leading a team to develop and oversee national policies for Medicaid, the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and the Basic Health Program (BHP), ensuring these programs run smoothly and comply with rules while working closely with states and senior leaders.
A good fit would be someone with extensive experience in health policy management, strong leadership skills for supervising staff, and the ability to create clear documents that explain complex program details to various audiences.
This position is located in the Children and Adult Health Programs Group (CAHPG), Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services (CMCS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
As a Group Deputy Director (Supervisory Health Insurance Specialist), GS-0107-15, you will provide leadership and direction for the development, implementation, and oversight of national Medicaid, CHIP, and BHP policies, strengthen program integrity, and collaborate with senior leadership to improve program delivery.

In order to qualify for the GS-15, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: 1.
Overseeing the development and implementation of policies and operational processes related to the administration of the Medicaid, CHIP, or BHP program at the state or federal level, in collaboration with state or national stakeholders, to ensure program compliance and effective service delivery to beneficiaries; 2.
Planning, organizing, and managing work activities and resources for subordinate staff to ensure timely and effective delivery of Medicaid, CHIP, and BHP program objectives; AND 3.
Producing or editing technical written documents - such as policy guidance, program memoranda, or decision briefings - for state agencies, public audiences, and senior management to support Medicaid, CHIP, or BHP program administration.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
