This job involves leading a team to maintain and repair parks, playgrounds, sports fields, and irrigation systems in El Paso, including tasks like mowing, cleaning equipment, and fixing sprinklers.

Education and Experience: High School Diploma, GED or higher, and two (2) years of experience in groundskeeping, landscape maintenance, or operating light/medium trucks, tractors, and related groundskeeping equipment.
Licenses and Certificates: Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state by the time of appointment. Pesticide Non-Commercial Applicator’s License issued by the Texas Department of Agriculture within one (1) year of appointment.
Special Requirements: Some positions may require a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Irrigation Technician License, Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester (BPAT) License, or Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) Certification, within one (1) year of appointment.
Under general supervision, lead crew in parks, playgrounds, irrigation systems, and sports fields construction, repair, and maintenance.
Oversee a crew of General Service Workers, Groundskeepers, Irrigation Techs, Equipment Operators, or other workers, in routine groundskeeping tasks.
Involves: Aerating, mowing, fertilizing, and cleaning parks and ballfields.
Inspecting, cleaning, and maintaining playground equipment, benches, picnic tables, trashcans, canopies, and related facilities. Over-seed grounds and turf areas.
Identify and perform basic equipment preventative maintenance necessary for the safe and efficient of playground equipment, parks, and facilities.
Perform manual labor as required to complete work assignments. Interact with other departments, contractors, vendors, and the public.
Assist with preparation for special events such as Christmas Tree Lighting, concerts, and sports tournaments. Repair and install irrigation systems and sprinkler systems.
Test and install backflow assemblies.
Operate light to heavy equipment, including gang and slope mowers, backhoes, chip-box spreaders, earth saws, skid steers, farm tractors with implements, front loaders, trenchers, and others.
Perform other difficult construction, repair, maintenance, or operations-related work. Inspect the worksite before, during, and following activities.
Identify, recommend, and undertake work according to priorities and established schedules. Ensure compliance with all safety and PPE regulations and protocols.
Supervise assigned personnel. Involves: Organize and coordinate workflow. Instruct, review, guide and check work. Appraise employee performance. Provide training and development.
Enforce personnel rules, regulations, and work and safety standards. Counsel, motivate, and maintain harmony.
Interview applicants and recommend hires, terminations, transfers, disciplinary action, payroll, leave, or other employee status changes.
