Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves leading the management of grants at a federal health agency, where you'll guide teams and recipients through the entire grant process, ensure everything follows rules, and help shape policies for handling funds effectively.
It's ideal for someone with years of experience in grants who enjoys advising others, reviewing finances, and improving systems in a government setting.
You'll work on big-picture oversight for programs that support Medicare and Medicaid.
This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of Acquisition and Grants Management (OAGM), Acquisition and Grants Group (AGG), Division of Grants Management (DGM).
As a Grants Management Specialist, GS-1109-14, you will serve as a senior grants management officer and technical leader, providing coordination and guidance to CMS grants staff and grants recipients.

In order to qualify for the GS-14, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: 1) Advising staff and grants specialists before and after grants are awarded, helping manage the entire grant process and ensuring recipients follow all regulations and requirements; AND 2) Acting as a subject matter expert to help create, review, and carry out policies and procedures for managing grants; AND 3) Using automated systems to review financial reports, track grant performance, ensure compliance, and prepare reports across multiple grants.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time-in-Grade: To be eligible, current or former Federal employees and current or former Federal employees applying under the VEOA eligibility who hold or have held a permanent General Schedule position in the previous year must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying.
