Summary

This job involves providing security and support for grand jury operations in a criminal court, including guarding inmates, delivering subpoenas, and maintaining court facilities.

Full Job Description

Provides security and support functions to the Grand Jury Operations. Supports functions involving the delivery of subpoenas, transporting and guarding inmates which could include incarcerated witnesses, making arrests and executing warrants when necessary. 

Requirements

  1. Provides security and support functions to the Grand Jury Operations.
  2. Supports functions involving the delivery of subpoenas, transporting and guarding inmates which could include incarcerated witnesses, making arrests and executing warrants when necessary.
  3. Maintains opening and securing Grand Jury facilities.
  4. Runs background checks at the request of the impaneling Court.
  5. Fills a supporting role during Capital Voir Dire proceedings and is attentive to the needs of each Grand Jury member.
  6. Strives to maintain excellent public, staff and Court relationships during the course of business.
  7. Carries a firearm with legal authority to use it in proper circumstances and is charged with the responsibility of knowing when those circumstances are present.
  8. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED and two (2) full-time years of law enforcement related experience.

  • Must have dependable transportation for the delivery of subpoenas.

Additional Information

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is frequently required to sit, stand, and walk. The incumbent is occasionally required to kneel, crouch, stoop, twist the upper body, and utilize upper and lower body strength movements. Frequent exposure to a variety of hazards. Some exposure to working outdoors, extreme temperature swings and noise levels. Bailiffs deal with criminals on a daily basis. Must be able to respond to emergency situations which may include the use of physical force.
