About the Position: The incumbent serves as a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Specialist for the USAFRICOM Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) program and the Command Privacy Act Officer located at the USAFRICOM, Secretariat to the Joint Staff.
Term Appointment NTE 3 years - Position may be filled as a term appointment NTE 3 years. Term appointments may be extended beyond six (6) years, up to eight (8) years.
With DoD approval, term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years.
Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a term appointment will be appointed/converted into a term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Administration and Management: Ensures organizational compliance with FOIA and Privacy Act policies and procedures by coordinating workflows, monitoring deadlines, and supporting timely and accurate processing of requests.
This includes monitoring and updating the overall daily administrative record, maintaining all files both open and closed repositories, ensuring accurate filing of all information including correspondence; 2) Knowledge Management: Utilizes automated tracking systems, such as the Tasker Management Tool, to record, track, and monitor FOIA/Privacy Act requests, ensuring accurate documentation and visibility of assignment status; AND 3) Customer Service: Delivers clear and timely customer service to internal and external requesters by explaining FOIA/Privacy Act requirements, clarifying processes, and providing status updates throughout the request lifecycle.
