Full Job Description

You will serve as a Government Information Specialist in the Contracting Department of NAVSUP WEAPON SYSTEMS SUPPORT.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Examples of specialized experience may include the following: 1) Coordinating information requests and responding to inquiries; 2) Researching laws, regulations, and other directives to ensure accurate interpretation of the Freedom of Information Act (FIOA); 3) Evaluating and analyzing data and information prior to responding to inquiries or requests for information; 4) Maintaining record keeping databases.

  • You will research relevant legislations, regulations, and precedents to determine if requested documents may be released.
  • You will be responsible for logging in all requests under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and maintaining records of all such requests.
  • You will locate, collect and assemble documents for release.
  • You will perform administrative duties associated with preparing correspondence including preparing a cover letter for signature, copying, setting up files, obtaining signatures, editing, and preparing for mailing.
  • You will maintain records of contractors' payment history and recommend advance payments on those who fail to pay.
