Full Job Description

This position is part of the NNSA - Livermore Field Office, Department of Energy.

A successful candidate in this position will serve as General Engineer (Safety Systems Oversight), performing operational awareness and contractor oversight of assigned facilities and their associated engineered safety systems, which include the Plutonium Facility and Tritium Facility.

A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower NNSA pay band level or GS grade level in the Federal Service, i.e., NN-02 or GS-11.

Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Conducting technical evaluations of industrial, nuclear, or non-nuclear facilities including their design, construction, maintenance and/or operational activities Demonstrated familiarity with documented safety analyses, technical safety requirements, engineered safety systems, and operating systems of such facilities Your application and resume should demonstrate that you possess the following competencies.

Major Duties:

As a General Engineer (Safety Systems Oversight), you will: Performs assessments, operational awareness oversight and evaluations of contractor performance related to engineered safety systems and their support systems in nuclear facilities, which include the Plutonium Facility and Tritium Facility.

Provides support to the agency's functional area leads in conducting oversight activities by evaluating the implementation of processes that interface with and could potentially affect the operability of assigned safety systems, such as design and engineering, procurement, quality assurance, maintenance, and work planning and control.

Assesses the overall performance of the Contractor's ability to fully sustain and maintain the entire facility and infrastructure at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) in a safe, efficient, and effective manner.

Exercises originality in anticipating problems, recognizing program needs, and use policies, standards, procedures, instructions, and criteria to guide oversight in the safety system area.

Manages and oversees the maintenance or vital safety systems in hazardous facilities.

Provides technical, administrative, organizational, and program management advice to LFO subject matter experts, managers, and Contracting Officers.

Assesses and recommends improvements concerning the overall site maintenance program.
