Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading the technical integration of payloads for NASA's Artemis missions at the Kennedy Space Center, coordinating with partners to ensure everything aligns with mission goals and timelines.

It focuses on overseeing the development, testing, and operations of complex space systems to support human spaceflight to the Moon and Mars.

Key Requirements

Full Job Description

Serves as a technical leader responsible for the overall direction of payload integration, ensuring successful execution through coordination with Government and commercial partners in support of NASA's Artemis Missions.

In addition to the Basic Education Requirement (in the Education section below), to qualify for this position you must meet the requirements below.

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

NASA utilizes OPM-approved qualification and rating requirements specific for Aerospace Technology (AST) positions which recognizes NASA's unique aerospace work.

The specific qualifications and minimum education requirements are further described below and within the education section of the job announcement.

To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level: Applying systems engineering and integration principles to support payload or launch site integration activities for human spaceflight programs (e.g., Artemis, SLS, Orion).

Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including contractors, international partners, and program stakeholders, to develop, test, and implement complex aerospace or ground systems across the lifecycle.

Leading integration efforts across multiple organizations to resolve technical issues and ensure alignment with program requirements, schedules, and mission objectives.

  • Leads launch site payload integration activities for Moon to Mars (M2M) missions, ensuring alignment with mission requirements and schedules.
  • Collaborates with project managers, payload developers, and international partners to integrate payloads across the development lifecycle in accordance with NPR 7123.
  • Leads trade studies, assessments, and Program Assessment Reviews (PARs) in support of the development and management of the payload Launch Site Support and Requirements Document (LSSRD).
  • Ensures technical accuracy of payload interface control documents and leads integration of payload-specific Operations and Maintenance Requirements and Specifications (OMRS) and Launch Commit Criteria (LCCs).
  • Provides leadership for Module and Utilization payload integration in support of Artemis missions, coordinating across multiple programs and stakeholders.
  • Ensures safety, interface, and operational integration between payloads and supporting infrastructure are executed effectively and efficiently.
