Job Description

Summary

This job is for a project manager at NASA's Stennis Space Center in Mississippi, where you'll lead engineering projects focused on testing rocket propulsion systems for government and private clients.

Full Job Description

Servers as a Project Manger in the Engineering and Test Directorate at the Stennis Space Center.

Responsible for the overall technical and administrative direction of assigned projects and interfacing with both Governmental agencies and Commercial customers.

In addition to the Basic Education Requirement (in the Education section below), to qualify for this position you must meet the requirements below and have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above.

NASA utilizes OPM-approved qualification and rating requirements specific for Aerospace Technology (AST) positions which recognizes NASA's unique aerospace work.

The specific qualifications and minimum education requirements are further described below and within the education section of the job announcement.

To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level: Managing assigned projects or project tasks, including coordinating technical work, schedules, and administrative requirements; Coordinating with Government or commercial customers to define requirements and support project goals within established cost and schedule constraints; Supporting design reviews, contract or task order negotiations, commercial agreements, and related business discussions.

  • Provide management and engineering leadership to operate, utilize, and continuously improve Stennis Space Center (SSC) test complex assets and facilities in support of SSC’s propulsion test mission for government and commercial customers.
  • Assist with coordination and integration within Engineering and Test Directorate to resolve conflicts among assigned projects and other institutional, infrastructure, or programmatic priorities.
  • Implement customer-requested changes in a timely and professional manner in accordance with NASA processes, and inform customers of significant cost, schedule, or technical changes or risks.
  • Communicate significant cost, schedule, or technical changes or risks to management, and provide schedule, cost, technical, requirements, and risk information as requested.
  • Manage the integrated NASA and contractor workforce to support projects within established cost and schedule constraints.
  • Support and advance the Director’s vision and mission to accomplish the Center’s, NASA’s, and the Nation’s strategic goals.
