Summary

This job involves working as a technical expert on submarine projects, helping design, build, and test advanced systems like robotics and software for naval vessels.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: technical experience and acumen in aspects of submarine design and integration, robotics, software architecture, hydrodynamics, HM&E systems, platform integration, structural integrity, and vessel stability; experience working with multidisciplinary teams to support complex engineering solutions; and ability to effectively communicate and manage issues, reporting, and risks.

  • You will serve as a technical expert supporting the Principal Assistant Program Manager.
  • You will work with a programmatic and technical team of civilians, military and contractors in the prototyping, design, integration, production, and test of submarine-integrated specialized mission systems.
  • You will use a high-level of engineering judgment to provide technical advice to ensure reliability and accuracy in the identification, development, and implementation of solutions to complex engineering issues.
  • You will support the establishment and execution of applicable certification processes as a technical expert.
  • You will maintain your technical expertise through continued professional development, and use your knowledge to manage, chair, advise and report on engineering studies/projects.
  • You will be responsible for acquisition development, and fielding and sustainment of mission systems.
  • You will be responsible for the following mission systems to include incorporating standardization, commonality, configuration and risk management, design, test and evaluation, and modeling and simulation of these systems.
  • You will communicate technical information, issues, risks, and solutions with internal and external stakeholders across Government and industry, and report on engineering studies.
