Full Job Description

You will serve as a FUEL DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM WORKER in the FUELS DEPARTMENT of NAVAL STATION.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job.

Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: The ability to lead/supervise others who perform common FUEL DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM OPERATOR SUPERVISOR operating an integrated bulk fuel systems, performing inventory control, maintain fuel testing schedules, and problem solving.

I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.

  • You will operate weight handling equipment and forklifts according to established operating procedures to avoid exposure to injury.
  • You will follow safety regulations and use safety precautions to avoid accidents when handling fuels and chemicals.
  • You will direct the operation of pumps and accessory equipment to load, unload, and transfer liquid fuel to and from barges, tankers, and ships.
  • You will perform routine tasks (e.g., tightening connections, coupling and uncoupling hoses, opening and closing valves) to assist journeymen fuel distribution system mechanics on projects.
