Full Job Description

You will serve as a FUEL DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM INSPECTOR in the FUELS BRANCH, AIRFIELD OPERATIONS DIVISION of MARINE CORPS AIR STATION, NEW RIVER.

The President has ordered a government-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the hiring freeze.

  • You will test fuel samples and interpret results taken from rail cars, barges, trucks, storage tanks and various distribution points throughout the fuel distribution system.
  • You will perform proper calibration and operator maintenance on all required laboratory equipment within the Fuels Department.
  • You will conduct inspections of all fuel distribution system components and inspect low points and valve pits to ensure proper functioning.
  • You will observe aircraft refueling vehicles and fuel transfers to ensure proper procedures are followed.
  • You will train Fuels Department personnel on proper techniques of sampling, gauging, handling, dispensing, safety, fire prevention and spill control/reporting procedures.
  • You will maintain a system of records and reference/design manuals, review discrepancy reports looking for trends, errors, etc. and submit requests for repair parts and materials needed to minimize interruptions to fuel operations.
