This seasonal job involves working outdoors in Pennsylvania's forests to help conserve natural resources, such as collecting data on trees, marking boundaries with GPS, planting trees, applying herbicides safely, and supporting fire management efforts.
You'll assist foresters and sometimes lead small teams on tasks like building fences or surveying for insects and diseases.
It's ideal for someone passionate about nature who enjoys physical work in the woods and has basic forestry training, with the role running full-time from spring through fall each year.

In this position, you will support Foresters in gathering field data for stand analysis and sale layout, utilizing handheld data collectors for data entry, and assisting with herbicide applications as well as fire suppression and prescribed burn operations.
Your responsibilities will include evaluating timber volumes through marking and cruising under the direction of the supervising Forester, as well as surveying and marking boundaries for timber sales, herbicide application zones, and planting sites using GPS technology, followed by the creation of maps for Forester approval.
You will ensure accurate data entry into the designated database and may lead a team of Forest Technicians or Semi-Skilled Laborers in various projects, such as constructing deer fences, planting trees, marking timber, collecting seeds, managing wildlife habitats, applying herbicides, and conducting prescribed burns, all while prioritizing safe handling and application of insecticides and herbicides under the guidance of a Forester or certified applicator.
Additionally, you will assist the District Forest Health Coordinator with insect and disease management through surveillance flights and ground checks, support forest fire protection efforts, and collaborate with the Recreation Forester on the leased camp program and district recreation infrastructure, while also engaging in volunteer recreational projects and public outreach initiatives.
