This job involves leading sensitive investigations by collecting, analyzing, and managing digital evidence from computers and networks to support civil, criminal, or administrative cases at the Department of Housing and Urban Development's Office of Inspector General.

This position is located at Department of Housing and Urban Development Office of Inspector General, OIG, Office of Investigation.
As an Forensics Investigative Specialist, you will be responsible for leading and conducting extremely sensitive, complex, and often time-critical computer forensic and eDiscovery projects pertaining to investigations which are civil, criminal, and administrative in nature.
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience for the GS-13, you must have one year (full 52 weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Demonstrated experience utilizing applicable principles, procedures, and techniques to ensure digital evidence is collected, transported, and stored properly; AND Demonstrated experience processing and analyzing digital evidence; AND Demonstrated experience using automated databases to manage information.
Major Duties:
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-14.
If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
Serve as a technical expert in the development of investigative methods.
Apply specialized forensic knowledge in developing processes to acquire, analyze and identify digital evidence in criminal, civil, or administrative investigations involving the use of computers, network technology, and digital information in the commitment of crimes.
Prepare reports, position papers, and other documents concerning the OI Digital Forensic Unit and their impact on digital forensics, ESI, and eDiscovery, which are clear, concise, factual, and timely.
Reports include, but are not limited to, monthly and quarterly evaluations of the operational performance of the DFU, weekly highlights, input into the semiannual report to Congress, and policy documents.
Prepare, review, and revise new policies, programs, standards, and techniques. Perform staff studies and other special assignments, as required, in a timely and acceptable manner.
