About the position: The purpose of this position is to mix and serve lattes, cappuccinos, espressos, Americanos, and assorted other beverages the general public may order off the menu.
This position is located at Misawa Collocated Club, 35th Force Support Squadron, Misawa AB Japan.
This is a Flexible category position; guaranteed 0 hours per week but may work up to 40 hours per week depending on the needs of the facility.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience: Must have progressively responsible experience that demonstrates knowledge of coffee shop/Bistro operations.
Progressively responsible experience in clerical duties in the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit, custody, or other processing of cash items is required.
Must be familiar with sales operations. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and to provide work direction to other employees. Must have skill in dealing with the public.
Knowledge of fire, safety, and health regulations is desirable. Condition(s) of Employment: Must be able to frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
Must be able to continuously stand and walk, and frequently stoop, reach, push, pull, and bend for long periods of time. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a Tier 1 background check.
Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Major Duties:
Provides day-to-day advice and guidance to employees for work assignments; relay instructions from the supervisor for work assignments; gets work started and sets the pace; demonstrates work methods and provides work-related guidance; ensures worksite materials and tools are available; and ensures that employees follow security, safety, and housekeeping rules.
Operates full service Espresso Bar.
Prepares a wide range of drinks including but not limited to lattes, espressos, Americanos, and cappuccinos by selecting the proper grind of the coffee shot and following set recipes for each individual variation of drink.
Performs preventive maintenance and cleaning. Scrapes, soaks, scours glassware, dishes and utensils as required.
Also performs heavy duty cleaning tasks as required such as: coffee machines, ceilings, under and behind equipment, refrigerators, washes floors and walls, sanitizes garbage cans.
Collects and transfers trash from work area to disposal area. May unload stock from delivery trucks.
Must be able to follow basic cappuccino requirement of each type drink but not limited to preheating the portafilter, knowing the difference in grinds of coffee, knowing how long should a shot take to brew into cup, preheating the cup, how to "pull" and "tamp" into the portafilter, difference in frothing and steaming milk, and able to know difference and relay information to customers on the differences in drink choices.
Assures patron satisfaction by resolving complaints and customer problems; elevates unresolved employee complaints or operational issues to supervisor.
Performs full range of cash accountability to include responsibility for issue, receipt, and control of cash boxes.
Performs the same kind of work as subordinates; prepares orders; collects money, rings sales on cash register and makes change.
Completes inventories, identifies items and prepares necessary forms for re-ordering. Scheduled tour of duty will require evenings, weekends, and holiday work hours.
