About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Child Development Center, Joint Base Andrews, Maryland. This is a Regular Part-Time position with benefits.

This position may be eligible for a $500 recruitment incentive, pending approval and availability of funding. Who May Apply: Open to everyone.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience: Must have at least six months food handling experience in a food establishment.

Must be able to read, write, and understand written and oral instructions and do simple tasks that are easily learned.

Must be able to follow oral instructions, be able to use hand tools for cleaning, operate simple machines. Must be skilled in doing tasks with several steps and must use judgment in sequencing tasks.

Must know food-handling techniques to meet sanitation and safety standards. Physical Efforts: Must be physically able to lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds.

Must be able to continuously stand, walk, and bend, frequently stoop, reach, push, and pull for long periods of time.

Must be able to obtain a Food Handlers Certificate, and successfully complete a National Agency check, State Criminal History Check, and Installation Records Check. Must be 18 years of age.

Must hold a valid driver's license. Major Duties:

Secures vegetables and fruits, washes, peels, slices, seeds, or mashes and delivers to the classrooms. Chops, cuts, and prepares ingredients for recipes.

Can assist in the preparation of food items such as sandwiches, casseroles, or salads. Prepares uncooked foods sandwich spreads, orange slices and jello.

Follows recipe cards to prepare simple dishes such as macaroni & cheese and pigs-in-a-blanket. Assists the cook by measuring, weighing, and assembling ingredients according to standardized recipes.

In the absence of cook would be required to do cooking. Places cooked food into serving bowls, covering and placing on food carts which will be walked to each classroom at meal times.

Prepares bottles for infant classrooms and transports bottles to the classrooms. Drives a government vehicle to transport breakfast, lunch and snack to Child and Youth facilities as required.

Operates, breaks down, and cleans all equipment for food preparation (worktables, sinks, refrigerators, freezers, carts and other work surface areas).

Separates food waste and trash from dishes, glasses, and silverware in dishwashing area. Sink washes dishes, loads and operates dishwasher, stores clean dishes, glasses, and silverware.

Sweeps and mops kitchen floors, cleans walls, and sanitizes and cleans trash cans. Also performs heavy duty cleaning such as under and behind kitchen equipment.

Will assist in unloading food from delivery trucks. Assists with dating and rotating kitchen food stock. Collects and transfer trash from work area to disposal area.

Sets up glasses, silverware, dishes, napkins, and condiments on carts and delivers food to children's classrooms. Removes the dishes and trash from the carts and washes dishes after each meal service.

Wash food carts daily.
