About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and is located at the Child Development Center at Seymour Johnson AFB.

The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of manual tasks in food preparation and food service areas. Who May Apply: Open to everyone.

Must be skilled in doing tasks with several steps and able to use judgement in sequencing tasks. Knowledge of sanitation standards for handling and serving food, food service equipment and work area.
Must be physically able to frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
Must be able to continuously stand and walk, and frequently stoop, reach, push, pull and bend for long periods of time. Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate.
Successful completion of a National Agency Checks is required. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Major Duties:
1. Sets up service carts to support family style dining an ensures age appropriate utensils are available for all children and staff.
Assembles either hot or cold foods, dishing up and ensuring correct temperature. Prepares fruits and vegetables. Responsible for delivering food or food alternatives for children with allergies.
Cleans dishes, kitchen, kitchen equipment, storage, facilities and dishwashing room when meals are complete. Sets up and operates dishwasher, performs preventative maintenance and cleaning.
Scrapes, soaks, scours, and scrubs, bowls, pots, and pans.
Performs heavy duty cleaning tasks on floors, walls, ceilings, and shelves; exhaust hoods; under and behind kitchen equipment; walk-in refrigerators and freezers and sanitizes garbage cans.
Unloads food from delivery trucks. Inventories stock. Collects and transfers trash from work area to disposal area. 2. Cuts food into appropriate size pieces based on age of children. 3.
May be required to fill in for the cook as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned. 4.
Incumbent is responsible for independently completing work as scheduled after initial oral/written instructions and when changes or new assignments are made.
Supervisor periodically checks to ensure work is timely and IA W instructions. Skills and Knowledge: Must be skilled in doing tasks with several steps and able to use judgement in sequencing tasks.
Knowledge of sanitation standards for handling and serving food, food service equipment and work area. Physical Effort: Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
Continuous standing, walking, frequent stooping, reaching, pushing pulling and bending. May be required to work on ladders and use powered cleaning equipment.
Working Conditions: Uncomfortably high temperatures and humidity are created by stem and heat from cooking and dishwashing.
Area is usually noisy and there is a danger of slipping on wet floors where food or beverages have been dropped.
Exposed to hot liquids, sharp cutting blades, hot working surfaces, and extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigeration or freezer units.
