This position is located at Fort Hood, Texas.

Morale Welfare and Recreation Child and Youth Services (CYS) Employee Childcare Fee: First Child: 100% childcare fee discount (all CYS employees) Second and Subsequent Child: 25% childcare fee discount (all CYS employees) Available to MWR CYS Regular and FLEX (working a minimum of 15 hours).

A qualified candidate must possess the following: A bachelor's degree or higher in the following: Exercise physiology E Exercise Science Kinesiology Physical education Or other fitness-related disciplines OR All of the following equivalent in scope and complexity to the next lower grade level: 1.

Experience in the application of fitness principles, concepts, and techniques gained through the delivery of a comprehensive group fitness program. 2.

Experience or education demonstrating the knowledge of basic health and nutrition concepts. 3.

Experience training coaches or other professionals (i.e., teachers, caregivers, fitness instructors) in the proper application of sports or fitness techniques.

In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified": Experience in the planning, evaluation, or delivery of a fitness program or curriculum specifically for children or youth Or at least 12 semester hours in college coursework directly related to children or youth (i.e., PE for children, motor skills development, childhood development, early/elementary/secondary education, health/nutrition for children, child/adolescent psychology, etc.).

The experience above must be reflected on your resume to be considered a highly qualified candidate. Applicants that possess highly qualified criteria may be sent first for consideration. Major Duties:

  • Responsible for the delivery of a wide range of installation youth fitness, health, and outreach programs in multiple CYS settings. Develops and maintains and partnerships with schools and community organizations.
  • Within an existing curriculum, develops and implements lesson plans and appropriate environments that incorporate a broad range of fitness and health activities for early childhood, school age, and youth program participants.
  • Assists in training coaches using the National Youth Sports Coaches Association (NYSCA) guidelines. Provides assistance in planning practices to warm up/cool down techniques, injury prevention, proper use of materials and equipment.
  • Shares expertise in the operation of age-appropriate exercises and skills development for children and youth.
  • Helps inspect facilities/programs to ensure compliance with applicable standards and makes recommendations for improvements. Secures supplies, equipment, and facilities as appropriate.
