Job Description

Summary

This role involves planning, analyzing, and improving financial accounting systems and processes for the Department of Defense's finance agency.

The analyst will lead complex evaluations, recommend efficiency changes, and ensure high-quality financial operations across a network.

Key Requirements

Specialized experience is defined as: managing the full lifecycle of accounting business processes, from planning and design to implementation and quality assurance.

Leading complex analyses of accounting systems, resolving intricate issues, and providing expert advice on financial procedures.

Recommending changes that improve efficiency and effectiveness Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement.

Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-12 or higher grade in Federal Service.

** The effective date of your SF-50 must reflect that you will meet the 52-week time in grade requirement within 30 days of the announcement closing.

** You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.

Major Duties:

  • Plans and oversees the design of specialized programs and accounting requirements across the DFAS network
  • Analyzes specialized program components, including those of a controversial nature. Independently develops and recommends the most suitable program and/or system for modification.
  • Analyzes and evaluates DoD procedures, policies, and program goals related to financial processes across the DFAS network
  • Identifies specific problems requiring further analysis and prepares recommendations for changing methods and practices.
