Full Job Description

The Finance Analyst position will be responsible for providing financial data, information, and analysis to the Metropolitan Council regarding legislation.

This position will assist the Legislative and Finance Divisions of the Council Office with coordination and information gathering between the Council Office and Metro departments, as well as routine administrative functions.

Employees in the Metropolitan Council Office work diligently to provide excellent service for members of the Council, as well as members of the public. We are looking for a highly engaged individual to join our team.

Requirements

  • Prepares fiscal notes and analysis for Council legislation.
  • Provides in-depth fiscal and administrative support related to the adoption of the Annual Operating Budget and the Capital Improvement Budget.
  • Performs fiscal administrative work for the Council Office Legislative Division.
  • Provides direct support for the Special Counsel/Director.
  • Researches, analyzes, interprets, and produces financial and narrative reports and/or projection.
  • Provides analytical services to the Vice Mayor, Council Members, and Special Counsel/Director.
  • Conducts research and data gathering for Council Members, as requested.
  • Prepares Performance Management metric reports.
  • Attends all regular meetings of Metro Council and Budget & Finance Committee meetings, budget hearings and work sessions to provide support, as needed.
  • Assists with preparation of Council committee reports and consent agendas.
  • Carries out special projects as needed.
  • Coordinates and performs finance-related functions with agencies inside and outside the Metropolitan Government.
  • Conducts presentations, seminars, or workshops.
  • Assists with management and execution of policies needed for finance and administration.
  • Prepares reports and visual representations of fiscal data.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and three years professional finance or legislative-related experience.
