Job Description

Summary

This job involves traveling door-to-door in your local area to interview people and collect data for U.S. Census surveys, using a laptop or phone to record responses accurately.

You'll explain the survey's purpose, keep track of your work hours and travel, and attend training sessions.

Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 level in Federal Service.

Specialized experience for this position includes: (1) communicating with clients, respondents, customers, and/or coworkers in person and/or by telephone, (2) using a device such as a smart phone, tablet, or computer/laptop (3) completing work/personal tasks in a timely manner.

OR 4 years of education above high school. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels for which both education and experience are acceptable.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

CTAP applicants MUST submit the following documents: A copy of your RIF separation notice; notice of proposed removal for declining a directed geographic relocation outside of the local commuting area; a Certificate of Expected Separation (CES); or certification that you are in a surplus organization or occupation (this could be a position abolishment letter, a notice of eligibility for discontinued service retirement, or similar notice).

A copy of your SF-50 "Notification of Personnel Action" noting current position, grade/band level, and duty location; A copy of your latest performance appraisal including your rating; and Any documentation from your bureau/operating unit that shows your current promotion potential.

ICTAP applicants MUST submit the following documents: A copy of your RIF separation notice; notice of proposed removal for declining a directed geographic relocation outside of the local commuting area; notice of disability annuity termination; certification from your former agency that it cannot place you after your recovery from a work-related compensable injury; or certification from the National Guard Bureau or Military Department that you are eligible for disability retirement.

A copy of your SF-50 "Notification of Personnel Action", documenting your RIF separation, noting your position, grade/band level, and duty location, and/or Agency certification of inability to place you through RPL, etc.; A copy of your latest performance appraisal including your rating; and Any documentation from your agency that shows your current promotion potential.

Major Duties:

Conducts interviews primarily in person (door to door) and when requested may conduct phone interviews to collect survey or census data as required within an assigned geographic area.

Communicates with respondents, supervisors, and other persons as appropriate.

Understands survey materials in order to explain the purpose of surveys, ask questions as worded on the questionnaire or survey instrument, and enters accurate and complete information into a laptop computer or onto survey forms.

Maintains personal payroll records that reflect hours worked, miles driven, and reimbursements for travel and communications claimed. Completes and attends training as necessary in-person or online.
