We are seeking an innovative and motivated Administrative Officer 2 to serve as the Fair Fund Administrator within the Agricultural Marketing Division. Requirements

As the Fair Fund Administrator, you will lead the planning, administration, and evaluation of a comprehensive statewide program that supports the development and success of Pennsylvania’s agricultural and community fairs.

In this role, you will oversee multiple grant programs that fund fairs, agricultural and rural youth initiatives, and statewide agricultural organizations.

You will also manage the administration of a multi-million-dollar grant portfolio under the Pennsylvania Agricultural Fair Act, including capital improvement grants, premiums, and fair reimbursements.

Your work will directly strengthen Pennsylvania’s agricultural heritage and ensure vital resources reach communities across the Commonwealth.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Travel throughout the Commonwealth to attend various fairs and industry meetings is required. Overnight travel will also be necessary based on program needs.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 5 days per pay period.

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as an Administrative Officer 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Three years of experience in progressively responsible and varied office management or staff work, including experience in personnel management, budgeting, or procurement; and a bachelor's degree; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.


Additional Requirements:

  • You must possess a valid driver's license.
  • You must be familiar with the operations of agricultural fairs.
  • You must have proficiency in developing and tracking budgets.
  • You must be comfortable representing the department and presenting material to large industry groups in person and on-line.
  • You must have knowledge related to grants and program management.
  • You must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Teams.
  • You must be highly organized.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):
  • Direct involvement with one of Pennsylvania’s 107 county agriculture fairs
  • Past Participation in FFA or 4-H
  • Comfortable around livestock


Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
