Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes using automated software to manage facility maintenance work orders, reconciling budgets, coordinating contract repairs, preparing correspondence, and maintaining records for safety inspections and job status.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Financial Management Operations Support Planning and Evaluating Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).

Major Duties:

  • Addresses inquiries and resolves issues related to the local facility
  • Assists in the preparation of the department's annual facility maintenance and/or projects budget.
  • Enters work statements for facilities maintenance services and manages service contract documents.
  • Ensures regulatory requirements for the storage and control of hazardous materials are met.
  • Communicates schedule changes and deadlines from contractors to the supervisor.
  • Coordinates the delivery of materials and special equipment.
  • Receives bids and/or amendments and initiates the necessary actions for contract award.
  • Prioritizes maintenance and repair work based on locally established protocols and inspection results.
