Full Job Description

Apply for the opportunity to become an intern with an agency whose mission is to provide the safest, most efficient aerospace system in the world.

Internship targeted start date is June 1, 2026 and targeted end date August 7, 2026. Management may offer to extend an intern past the targeted August 7th date.

ALL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION.

At time of application, you must be able to show proof of current student enrollment in courses and meet the academic criteria specified below.

Positions are open to students pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate in an accredited college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution on at least a half-time basis (as defined by the institution in which the student is enrolled).

Short-term training programs (e.g., several two-week programs completed) are not considered an academic course of study. Students must be in good standing at an accredited college or university.

FV-C: To qualify for the FV-C, you must be currently enrolled full time or at least half time in an accredited educational institution (college, university, vocational school, trade school, etc.) and show completion of 1 full academic year of post-high school study.

Full or half time enrollment is defined by your educational institution.

FV-D: To qualify for the FV-D, you must be currently enrolled full time or at least half time in an accredited educational institution (college, university, vocational school, trade school, etc.) and show completion of 4 academic years of post-high school study leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree.

Full or half time enrollment is defined by your educational institution. Qualifications must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Major Duties:

Internship positions are not remote. Telework may be authorized at manager discretion in alignment with their office policy and work requirements.

These exciting opportunities are located across a variety of offices within the Federal Aviation Administration Gateways program.

Opportunities are in multiple fields and there are options for many different degree programs and majors.

We are searching for highly motivated student interns to serve as student trainees where they will have the opportunity to advise on, administer, learn, and/or perform work in one or more of the below career concentrations.

Accounting/Finance Aviation Human Resource Management Computer Science/Cybersecurity Communication Data Science Engineering Law Policy Mathematics/Statistics Other related fields of study Additionally, all selected interns will have engagement opportunities at Regional FAA facilities, to meet executive leadership, tour FAA facilities, and have exciting aerospace experiences.

Other features of the Gateways Internship Program APPOINTMENT - Not to Exceed, 2 months AGREEMENT - All participants must sign a written Gateways Internship Agreement with the FAA that clearly identifies expectations of the appointment such as duties, length of appointment, work schedule, training, mentorship etc.

CONVERSION - Upon completion of course of study, depending on the qualifications and the agency's need, the student may be converted to a permanent appointment in the excepted service provided the student is a U.S.

citizen who has worked at least 640 hours in an appropriate program, has met qualification and time to hire requirements, and has received a favorable recommendation for retention.

There is no guarantee of a permanent position in the excepted service following this internship. TERMINATION- The FAA may terminate an intern's appointment at any time.

TRANSCRIPTS - Official Transcripts must be provided prior to target appointment (June 1, 2026), in order to validate program eligibility.
