This job involves reviewing export license applications and related requests to ensure they align with national security interests, working closely with other government agencies to provide expert recommendations.

This position is located in the Department of War (DoW), Defense Technology Security Administration (DTSA), Export Control Directorate.
As a recognized expert, the incumbent performs review of export control issues, including the review of license applications, commodity jurisdiction requests, and voluntary disclosure cases referred by the Departments of State and Commerce, and to determine DoWs position and recommendation on such issues to ensure they are consistent national security interest.
In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.
You may qualify at the GS-13 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector).
Specialized experience is defined as: experience applying export control policies to support mission objectives, providing analysis for policy recommendations, participating in interagency working groups, and analyzing license requests to formulate recommendations based on regulatory guidance.
You may qualify at the GS-14 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector).
Specialized experience is defined as: experience utilizing export control policies to meet organizational mission needs and recommend changes to policies as needed, represent the organization at an interagency level, and reviewing license requests to ensure requests meet regulatory guidance.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: Represents DTSA/Do W at interagency and international forums within proscribed guidelines, including, but not limited to, those dealing with export control policy, munitions and dual-use licensing issues, and export control regimes, e.g., Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG), Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR), Australia Group (AG), and Wassenaar Arrangement (WA) Enters appropriate license, policy, and technical information into USXPORTS electronic database, as required, to support the DoW position on munitions and dual-use cases.
coordinating the review of export control issues among relevant DoW organizations (including the military departments, the Joint Staff, the Office of the Secretary of War, and others) conducting a substantive evaluation of export control issues (including export license applications, commodity jurisdiction requests, voluntary disclosures and related actions) applying subject matter expertise
