This vacancy is for an Export Analyst at the Department of Commerce, in the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), within the Export Administration (EA), Office of Technology Evaluation (OTE), Emerging Technology Division (ETD).
ETD identifies and analyzes emerging and foundational technologies that are essential to the national security of the United States, pursuant to Section 1758 of the Export Control Reform Act (ECRA) of 2018.

This experience need not have been in the federal government.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
To qualify at the GS-13 level: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service.
Specialized experience is defined as: -Performing investigations, monitoring, evaluating and/or compliance work on U.S.
export control matters; and -Utilizing analytical tools to collect, organize, and evaluate data to identify key findings and trends; and -Representing an organization as an authority and spokesperson to government agencies, top business and industry officials; and - Researching and analyzing export control laws, regulations and policies related to program operations.
Major Duties:
As an Export Analyst, you will perform the following duties: Plans, guides, directs, and independently conducts analysis of trade, domestic and foreign availability, and other national security matters to measure effectiveness of future export controls on emerging and foundational technologies.
Prepares materials, including briefing materials and presentations on a range of complex and technical topics related to emerging and foundational technologies for use by various audiences including leadership at BIS and other government agencies, and external stakeholders.
Leads BIS emerging technologies initiatives with relevant analysts within the interagency (e.g.
Departments of War, Energy, and State), the Executive Office of the President, foreign governments, and U.S. industry.
Participates in meetings, conferences, exchange ideas with other experts in related disciplines and to acquire and assess information that could impact assessment of emerging and foundational technologies.
Represents BIS on interagency task forces, committees, and other groups or conferences relating to technical and policy issues.
