Full Job Description


The Seattle Police Department (SPD) has an Executive Assistant opportunity, supporting the Deputy Chief of Police. This is a position with an exciting opportunity for an experienced Executive Assistant that has a can-do attitude, and the skill set to provide high-level executive support in a highly confidential, complex, innovative, and analytical capacity.

Requirements

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

• Serve as the confidential assistant to the Deputy Chief.
• Manage the Deputy Chief’s calendar and ensure they are fully informed and prepared for meetings and deadlines.
• Manage all travel arrangements for the Deputy Chief while maintaining attention to detail.
• Ability to multi-task and be flexible in a dynamic environment of shifting priorities and constant change in a collaborative team environment.
• Independently manage research, compile, and prepare weekly reports that include all the bureaus and units under the command of the Deputy Chief.
• Track bureau deployments, overtime usage and travel training funds.
• Manage and report on the bureau’s budget.
• Write and review correspondences for the Deputy Chief’s signature.
• Attend meetings as requested to take minutes and ensure that discussion items are coordinated and has follow-up action.
• Independently research, analyze, report and draft responses for the Deputy Chief.
• Manage personnel movement within the Bureau using the Employee Management Tracking System (EMT) and the Police Employees Management System (PEDS).
• Manage special assignments for the Deputy Chief.
• Other duties as assigned by the Deputy Chief.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Three years of experience as an administrative staff assistant, administrative staff analyst, budget analyst or a related field and a bachelor’s degree in business or public administration or a related field (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience that provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class).

Position Requirements:


• Must pass a Seattle Police Department background investigation.
• Must have a valid Driver’s license.
• Must perform work on-site.

The full salary range for this position is $56.23 - $65.54 per hour.
New employees begin at Step 1 of the pay progression, which is $56.23 hourly. Current City employees’ starting rate of pay will be based on Personnel Rules regarding promotions. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) regular position with full benefits. This is a Civil Service position and is FLSA exempt (not eligible for overtime).
