This job involves operating equipment to set up and take down stages and props for events at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex, while also maintaining the grounds, buildings, and handling tasks like snow removal and trash cleanup.

Key Requirements

  • Six months of experience operating and maintaining large vehicles like vans, buses, or trucks with a gross weight of 10,001 pounds or more, or equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license
  • Ability to safely operate equipment such as forklifts, dump trucks, farm tractors, sweepers, boom lifts, snowplows, and mowers
  • Skills in setting up, maintaining, and tearing down stages, props, and event equipment
  • Experience or ability in grounds keeping, general maintenance, custodial functions, and snow removal
  • Capacity to prioritize tasks, collaborate with a team, and work in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines
  • Availability for full-time temporary schedule (either 7:00 AM-3:30 PM or 2:30 PM-11:00 PM, Thursday-Monday) and essential reporting during emergencies

Requirements

Duties and responsibilities of an Event Services Operations Staff person are varied and diverse, all contributing to the safe operation of all equipment, and safe, efficient, and effective operation of the Farm Show Complex.

In this position, you will exercise safe and structured operation of all equipment and play an active role in helping to setup, maintain, and tear down stages, props, and necessary equipment for the various types of events held at the complex.

You will also maintain complex grounds and facility buildings with regards to equipment operations, trash and custodial functions, general maintenance and grounds keeping, and snow removal.

Some specific equipment that may be used includes forklifts, dump trucks, farm tractors, sweepers, boom lifts, snowplows, and mowers.

The ability to prioritize tasks and collaborate with a team is essential in order to meet strict deadlines and ensure for a seamless transition from event to event.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Temporary, full-time employment
  • Work hours are either 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Thursday - Monday, OR 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, Thursday - Monday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is considered essential and as such is required to report to working during emergencies and office closings.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months experience in the operation and maintenance of large vans, buses and single-chassis trucks with a gross vehicle weight of 10,001 pounds or more; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
