Base salary range: $62,107 - $80,737

The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as Equipment Specialist and technical expert for the assigned Aircrew Training System (ATS) contract.
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Series 1670.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems.
Examples of specialized experience includes comprehensive and thorough knowledge of principles, concepts, and methodology related to flight simulator operation/maintenance and skills in applying this knowledge to plan and accomplish a variety of difficult and complex work assignments.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible.
One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Comprehensive knowledge of principles, concepts and methodology related to aircrew training device operation and maintenance.
Knowledge of a wide range of maintenance concepts, principles. and practices of specific systems/equipment such as 9 WSTs, 3 CPTs.
3 ARPTTs, I RDT, 2 CASTs, I CLT and skill in applying this knowledge to difficult and complex assignments.
Knowledge of and skill in applying Total Quality principles, practices, methods, and procedures. Skill in identifying and analyzing complex technical problems.
developing innovative solutions, and interpreting engineering drawings, technical manuals and technical data. Skill in developing interpersonal relationships.
maintaining good working relationships and working cooperatively as a member of a team. Ability to plan, organize and re-prioritize work to meet changing deadlines.
Ability to evaluate and validate contractor training to ensure proper maintenance of assigned systems/equipment.
Ability to communicate well; both orally and in writing sufficient to provide technical advice in terms of oral and written briefings.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:
Implements HQ AMC program responsibility and provides expertise for a comprehensive range of concept1 feasibility, design, development, and testing activities for highly complex new and existing assigned aircraft training systems and subsystems including hardware and software modifications.
Involved in all aspects of Quality Assurance including pre-production, production/manufacturing acceptance testing, hardware/software testing, verification and configuration management.
Provides AMC technical expertise to the contractor, associated Air Logistics Center and IIQ Aeronautical Systems Center for analysis, planning and programming of short nod long range equipment and software requirements for AMC ATDs and associated support equipment.
Exercises continues responsibility for a comprehensive range of production/procurement activities for complex new or existing training systems and subsystems, and/or hardware/software modifications.
