Job Description

Summary

This job involves maintaining and servicing city vehicles and equipment, such as performing routine checks, minor fixes, tire work, and shuttling items to repair shops, all during the evening shift.

It's a hands-on role in a fleet management team, helping keep the city's light and heavy machinery running smoothly.

A good fit would be someone reliable with basic mechanical experience who doesn't mind working late hours and has a clean driving record.

Key Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • At least one year of related work experience in servicing light and heavy equipment
  • Valid Michigan Driver's License
  • Valid Michigan Commercial Driver's License Class A with Air Brakes and N Endorsement (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
  • Ability to perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on equipment
  • Willingness to work 2nd shift (2:00 pm to 12:00 AM, four 10-hour days: Monday-Thursday or Tuesday-Friday)

Full Job Description

The purpose of this job is to perform minor repairs and assist mechanics on light and heavy equipment when needed. Services light and heavy equipment vehicles. Transfers all types of equipment to different departments and/or vendors for various repairs. Assists the Stockroom for shipping/receiving, parts runs, and counter help. Installs and removes add-on equipment as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs preventative maintenance on heavy and light equipment Makes small repairs of equipmentPrepares new equipment for serviceMakes service/recovery callsMaintains parking lot and fuel island areaShuttles vehicles and equipment to local shopsMaintains Fuel Island and equipment including cleaning and maintain vacuum systemMounts and balances all size tires using tire changing and balancing machinesInspects brakes, front and rear suspensions, steering systems, exhaust system, lighting systems, etc.
