The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Northern Region Highways and Aviation Dalton District, is looking for an Equipment Operator, Lead/Journey 3 to help us Keep Alaska Moving!

What You Will Be Doing:
As an Equipment Operator Journey 3, you will perform airport maintenance and Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) duties at a Part 139 certificated rural airport. Crews are responsible for maintaining the airport year-round in a safe and fully operable condition for use by the traveling public. Duties will include snow removal, crack sealing, runway paint marking, wildlife control, other tasks as assigned as well as assisting in compliance with all applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and State of Alaska rules and regulations concerning maintenance and operation of airports

Special Note:
  • Class A CDL with N-Tanker required per 49 CFR Part 383.23
  • Flagger training certificate
  • 1st aid/CPR - OSHA and MSHA Federal Aviation Regulations and Advisory Circulars, MSHA certified- MSH Regulations (provided on job)
  • Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) Training required and provided AFTER hire.
Incumbent must have completed all requirements, including successfully complete employer provided aircraft rescue firefighting (ARFF) training, demonstrate ARFF competencies to become permanent.

Qualifications

COMMERCIAL DRIVER'S LICENSE REQUIRED:
This position requires the incumbent to possess a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) per federal regulations (49 CFR 383), to register with the federal CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing Clearinghouse prior to performing safety sensitive duties, and to provide consent to the Employer to review driver information in accordance with 49 CFR 382.

A Class A Alaska Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with N-Tanker endorsement is required at time of hire.

This position requires the use of firearm or ammunition. If you have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence you may not hold a position in this job class in accordance with the Federal Omnibus Consolidated Appropriations Act of 1997 (PL-104-208).
