CITY OF NORFOLK: Department of Public Works is currently seeking an Equipment Operator II within the Division of Environmental Storm Water Management.
Equipment Operator II's are responsible for operating heavy construction equipment and participating in the routine functions of an operational storm water crew.
This essential operational position is required to operate various pieces of construction equipment including backhoes, excavators, front-end loaders, dump trucks, vacuum-flushing trucks, and street sweepers to support general storm water operations and the city’s street sweeping operation.
The Department of Public Works builds, maintains, and operates the physical facilities that support and enhance the lives of Norfolk’s citizens, businesses, and visitors, including the City’s Street Network, Traffic Management System, Storm Water System, Waste Management, and Recycling.
The Division of Environmental Storm Water Management is tasked with reducing the threat of flooding and improving the water quality within the City of Norfolk.
Our crews maintain the City’s stormwater infrastructure, consisting of underground pipes, structures, roadside and offroad ditches, BMPs, and pump stations to minimize the impact of rain and tidal flooding.
The preferred candidate will have the ability to:
Must possess valid Commercial Driver’s License. Must provide a copy of Division of Motor Vehicle driving record (obtained within last 30 days) during the interview.
Preferred candidate will have Class A CDL.
Preferred candidate will have tanker endorsement.
