The Department of Conservation & Natural Resources is actively looking to hire an Equipment Operator B for the Presque Isle and Erie Bluffs State Park complex.
This position involves skilled operation of specialized machinery and vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more, as well as the ability to haul trailers exceeding 10,000 pounds.
In addition to operating this heavy equipment, the role includes performing routine maintenance and engaging in various manual tasks that are essential for the upkeep and efficient functioning of the park complex.

In this position, you will be responsible for performing a variety of general maintenance tasks across all park facilities and structures.
This includes assisting with the construction of gates, repairing piers and docks, and replacing picnic grills and tables, as well as charcoal disposal units and park signage.
Additionally, you will engage in grounds maintenance activities such as sand management, beach cleaning, brush hogging, mowing, and snow removal.
Your role will also involve digging trenches for the installation or repair of waterlines, sewer lines, and drainage systems, as well as excavating foundations or footers for small construction projects.
You will be tasked with loading and hauling materials like soil, sand, stone, and debris, and when not operating equipment, you will assist with various park maintenance duties, including litter collection, restroom cleaning, painting, tree planting, and garbage disposal.
Furthermore, you will help set up for special events at the park and the Tom Ridge Environmental Center, perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance on equipment, and recommend necessary replacements or purchases.
Safety checks and inspections of equipment will be part of your responsibilities, along with maintaining records for operated equipment, particularly for commercial vehicles over 32,000 pounds.
You will also demonstrate the operation of assigned equipment to fellow employees and provide visitors with information about the park and surrounding areas, while reporting any observed violations to park rangers or managers.
This role may require you to work independently or lead a small team of semi-skilled laborers, and you will be expected to perform other related tasks as needed.
