If so, the Department of Conservation & Natural Resources (DCNR) is eager to welcome a motivated Equipment Operator A to assist with essential projects throughout Pymatuning State Park and the M.K. Goddard Complex. Here, you will provide skilled work in the operation of equipment and vehicles used to maintain the grounds, roadways, and facilities throughout the assigned park areas. Requirements

As an Equipment Operator A, your responsibilities will focus on the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the state park facilities at Pymatuning State Park and the M.K. Goddard Complex.

Duties will include operating vehicles and equipment with a gross weight under 26,000 pounds which are used in general construction and maintenance or grounds work, inclusive of snow removal and anti-icing operations.

You will maintain park roads and parking areas in addition to assisting with landscaping maintenance, utility line maintenance, and small construction projects that require both manual labor and the skillful operation of larger trucks and equipment.


Specific assignments will entail loading and hauling earth, stone, sand, stumps and debris; clearing land and preparing surfaces for landscaping; and plowing, aerating, seeding, fertilizing, and mulching turf areas, trails, and wildlife plots. You may also replace sand on beaches; clean launch and dock areas of sediments and make repairs to grades and ramps where needed; and mow turf areas, trails, roadsides, utility rights-of-way, and wildlife openings with larger mowing equipment, hand mowers, leaf blowers, and weed eaters.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work schedule will vary. Work will be scheduled 5 days/37.5 hours per week and will include a 30-minute lunch.
    • Weekends and holidays may be required.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
