The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) is seeking an ambitious and confident individual to join our maintenance team as an Equipment Operator A.

Requirements

In this position, you will be responsible for operating various types of automotive equipment on and off the grounds.

Your duties will include operating the passenger cars, trucks, vans, buses, and wheelchair-accessible transportation needed to transport residents on and off the facility’s grounds.

You will make local and long-distance pickup and delivery of materials, mail, supplies, drugs, blood samples, and other items.

Your work will involve hauling materials related to construction and maintenance work, completing safety checks and inspections of vehicles, and performing minor repairs and maintenance.

Additionally, you will perform department tasks when not operating vehicles and equipment such as loading and unloading vehicles, cleaning work areas, and maintaining records and logs of equipment use.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, rotating weekends and holidays, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months experience in the operation and maintenance of large vans, buses and single-chassis trucks with a gross vehicle weight of 10,001 pounds or more; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

  • All positions require possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license.

Conditions of Employment:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsement.


Additional Requirement:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
