*Subject to change*DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSIncumbents in this position will work under the supervision of the Environmental Investigator V. The Environmental Investigator II will provide environmental investigations and lead risk assessments of housing units, inspect housing units for healthy home hazards, work with XRF, radon tester and other scientific equipment, write work intervention specs, monitor contractors providing services for lead hazard reduction and perform clearances and other associated activates in adherence to strict established policies and procedures.
WORKING CONDITIONS:There are occasional exposures to significant levels of heat, cold, moisture and air pollution. The position
may involve infrequent exposure to chemical substances and physical trauma of a minor nature such as
cuts, bruises and minor burns.
PHYSICAL SKILL:Requires the ability to make simple gross motor responses within large tolerances.
PHYSICAL EFFORT:The position routinely requires lifting of moderately heavy items, such as typewriters or records boxes (up to
40 pounds) and/or very long periods of walking on rough surfaces on a routine basis.
Requirements
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Health Engineering or a closely related degree.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSOne (1) year of pollution/environmental control experience are required.

Qualifications
- Bilingual
- Experienced lead inspectors and risk assessor with valid certificate issued by the state of Texas will be preferred
- A valid Texas driver's license and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving (AP 2-2).
- Experience using MSOffice Software
**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.**

SALARY INFORMATION GENERAL and SPECIAL FUNDS POSITION
Grants and Special funded positions are dependent upon continued available funds. If funding is no longer available, employee may be laid off or transferred.
Factors used in determining the salary offered include the candidate's qualifications as well as the pay rates of other employees in this classification.
Pay Grade 16
