Requirements

In this position, you will assist an instrument man or rodman within a survey team focused on mining projects, particularly those related to acid mine drainage, underground mine fires, refuse pile fires, surface mine reclamation, and subsidence issues. Your responsibilities will include operating various survey instruments such as total stations, EDMs, theodolites, transits, and levels to gather essential survey data. You will also help manage high-accuracy geospatial equipment, including radios, receivers, controllers, and base stations. Utilizing survey software, you will generate control reports and calculate coordinates, elevations, angles, and distances. Additionally, you will record, verify, and analyze field notes, and conduct field visits to county courthouses to gather vital project information, including surface and mineral ownership and deed descriptions.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week.

In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Ebensburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $40,685 (before taxes).

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• An associate degree in surveying, drafting, designing, civil, or any other appropriate field of engineering technology.
• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Other Requirements:

• This particular position also requires possession of a valid PA Class C driver's license.

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
