Engineer I - $5,596 per month (EN-18, Step D)

Engineer II - $6,043 to $6,921per month (EN-20, Step D to I)

Engineer III - $6,528 to $7,475 per month (EN-22, Step D to I)

Requirements

The Engineer I performs routine professional engineering work requiring the application of basic engineering principles and techniques, according to specific instructions and following well-established practices; and performs other related duties as assigned.

The Engineer II performs specific and limited professional engineering assignments requiring application of standard professional methods and techniques, which may involve minor phases of a broad project; and performs other related duties as assigned.

The Engineer III performs moderately difficult professional engineering work in the planning, design, construction, maintenance, operation and/or evaluation of engineering projects or facilities or assists higher-level engineers on more complex projects; and perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Applicants will be placed on the eligible list for ALL levels for which they are qualified.

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

Legal Authorization to Work:
The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.


Basic Education: A bachelor's degree from a school of engineering from an accredited four-year college or university. Relevant substitutions as described in the complete Minimum Qualification Requirements (see link below), will apply .


Note: Applicants who will graduate within three months and will meet the Minimum Qualification Requirements upon their graduation will be accepted for examination.

If you are graduating within three months with Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university or a Master’s degree in pertinent engineering field from a school of engineering in an accredited college or university, please submit a copy of your official transcript of coursework completed thus far and a letter from your department head or registrar verifying your current enrollment in school, your expected graduation date and major with your application.


Engineering Experience: None required for Level I; and One (1) year for the Level II; and Two (2) years for the Level III of progressively responsible professional engineering experience which required the knowledge and application of the basic physical and mathematical sciences and the engineering sciences to the solution of theoretical or practical engineering problems.

Driver's License: Some positions may require a valid driver's license.

Special Requirements: Some positions may require the ability to lift and carry loads of various weights with or without reasonable accommodation.

Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Clearance - Federal Criminal History Records Check: In accordance with Federal regulations, persons who are being considered for employment in positions which require unescorted access to secured areas at the airport must undergo a pre-employment fingerprint-based criminal history record check.

In order to be granted the SIDA clearance, prospective employees must not have been convicted, or found "not guilty by reason of insanity," of a disqualifying criminal offense within ten years from the date of the application.

Upon recommendation for hire, prospective employees will be required to successfully undergo the fingerprint-based criminal history record check and be found free of disqualifying convictions during the preceding ten years.

The cost for the records check will be the applicant's responsibility.


Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Clearance - Federal Criminal History Records Check: In accordance with Federal regulations, persons who are being considered for employment in positions which require unescorted access to secured areas at the harbor must undergo a pre-employment fingerprint-based criminal history record check.

In order to be granted the TWIC clearance, prospective employees must not have been convicted, or found "not guilty by reason of insanity," of a disqualifying criminal offense within seven years from the date of appointment.

Upon recommendation for hire, prospective employees will be required to successfully undergo the fingerprint-based criminal history record check and be found free of disqualifying convictions during the preceding seven years.

The cost for the records check will be the applicant's responsibility. However, upon hire, the employee will be reimbursed provided he/she submits the TWIC receipt to his/her supervisor.
