Requirements
As an Employee Relations Trainee, you will actively participate in a 12-month training program, assisting
employee relations experts with reviewing, investigating, analyzing, and responding to grievances in both the Standard Grievance Procedure (SGP) and Accelerated Grievance Procedure (AGP). You will learn how to determine methods by which all required information is gathered to support the Commonwealth. Work involves conducting investigations, collecting pertinent information, and assisting agency attorneys in responding to and resolving Civil Service appeals; Human Relations Commission complaints; Equal Employment Opportunity Commission complaints, as well as union grievances that have gone to Arbitration. You will learn about the proper application and administration of the provisions of all contracts and memoranda of understanding that cover represented employees, associated side letters, and any local agreements that may exist. You will also have the opportunity to assist with the development and/or review of proposed Local Agreements of the involved Office, Board, Council, or Commission.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week.
In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree, including 15 credits in public administration, business administration, or a closely related field; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 15 credits in public administration, business administration, or a closely related field.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Other Requirements:
