Job Description

Summary

This job involves working as an electronics technician to troubleshoot and fix issues in shipboard network and combat control systems for the U.S. Navy fleet in Washington state.

You'll help diagnose problems on ships and submarines, provide technical guidance to officers, and ensure systems are ready for missions under tight deadlines.

Full Job Description

You will serve as an Electronics Technician supporting Consolidated Afloat Networks, or similar combat and control systems in the Fleet Technical Support Division (Code 210), Engineering and Planning Department (Code 200) of PSNS and IMF, Everett, WA.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector investigating and analyzing specific problems of Consolidated Afloat Networks, or similar combat and control systems and components to diagnose and resolve issues onboard ships or submarines.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will provide technical assistance on urgent mission-degrading CASREPs or similar problems affecting major systems.
  • You will communicate with ship's officers, exercising leadership, tact, and persuasion to influence and control corrective actions to be taken.
  • You will investigate and resolve specific problems and provide a final field test documentation for elimination of the problems.
  • You will resolve complex problems in assigned systems and equipment while often under pressure for rapid results to meet operational schedules.
  • You will inspect and provide a functional checkout/demonstration of major systems on new construction ships or major conversions.
  • You will lead an assigned equipment group in pierside functional checkout, grooming, adjustment, and repair of a major shipboard system or subsystem.
