Base salary range: $62,107 - $80,737
Typical requirements: 1 year specialized experience at GS-10. Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 years graduate study.
Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves working as an electronics technician for the Navy's ocean projects team in Mississippi, where you'll test, repair, and maintain electronic systems used in underwater data collection, like sensors for sound and light in ocean environments.
You'll also handle inventory and procurement to keep equipment ready for missions.
It's a great fit for someone with hands-on experience in electronics troubleshooting and a background in maritime or technical supply management who enjoys problem-solving in a team setting.
You will serve as an ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN in the Ocean Projects Department (N9) of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.
GS-11 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience analyzing complex combinations (series-parallel) circuits and predicting circuit behavior under various conditions.
Experience explaining the practical implications of calculations, such as power dissipation and component sizing.
Experience utilizing electronic theory, concepts, principles and practices to conduct testing and maintenance on components like diodes and transistors.
Experience troubleshooting and repairing complex, intermittent, faults in integrated electronic systems.
Experience modifying existing systems to enhance functionality or improve reliability and documenting these changes.
Experience using oceanographic, acoustic, and optical collection sensors in a maritime environment.
Experience calibrating highly sensitive or complex instruments, applying theoretical knowledge to interpret results and making required adjustments.
Experience analyzing inventory data to perform requirements forecasting, identifying trends, analyzing the effectiveness of current replenishment strategies and recommending adjustments to meet changing mission requirements.
Experience developing and managing procurement schedules to ensure timely delivery of material; independently leading inventory audits and fully reconciling discrepancies.
GS-10 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience independently reviewing and interpreting circuit diagrams and electrical schematics to resolve problems pertaining to the design, installation, maintenance and repair of the equipment or subsystems.
Experience analyzing both series and parallel circuits, calculating total resistance, current, and voltage drops across all components.
Experience troubleshooting simple, common faults (e.g., an open or short circuit) using schematics and standard test equipment.
Experience utilizing multimeter independently to accurately measure voltage, current, and resistance in a live circuit and installing complete electronic systems.
Experience using oceanographic, acoustic, and optical collection sensors in a maritime environment.
Experience performing calibrations on standard equipment by following established procedures to ensure accuracy.
Experience independently executing standard inventory and supply procedures including conducting a complete inventory audit using established guidelines.
Experience performing tasks within each stage of the materiel lifecycle (procurement, distribution, disposal) and executing replenishment orders when stock levels hit pre-determined minimums.
