Full Job Description

This National Guard position is for a ELECTRONICS MECHANIC SUPERVISOR (TEMP) (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D0719000 and is part of the CSMS, located in Draper Utah, with the Utah Army National Guard.

IAW UTNGR 690-12 dated AUG 2022 and LIUNA-UTARNG CBA dated 11 OCT 2022, Priority will be given to all current, onboard employees of the UTARNG. The selecting supervisor is 1LT Tyler Anderson.

This is a TEMPORARY APPOINTMENT.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates that the candidate has the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have specialized experience in utilizing principles, basic functions and application of theory of electronic systems or equipment.

Experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems.

Experience in making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment.

Experience in using complex test equipment such as deviation meters, complex special test panels, etc.

Experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications.

SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: Must have experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel.

Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function.

Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes.

Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations. Major Duties:

Major Duties: This is not an all-inclusive list: Plans the overall allocation of personnel and other resources to the organizational segments supervised to accomplish work operations which, because of their scope, volume, and complexity, must be planned on a quarterly or longer basis.

Analyzes the work plans developed by subordinate supervisors for accomplishment of assigned work orders and projects and the status of work being accomplished in relation to overall schedule requirements, including unanticipated or emergency requirements.

Provides higher level managers and/or supervisors information on status of work projects, budget estimates, changes in equipment, facilities, techniques, etc.

Coordinates and directs the work of units supervised. Assigns and explains work requirements to subordinate supervisors and sets deadlines. Balances work load for subordinate work groups.

Promotes economical and efficient work operations. Analyzes production, cost and personnel utilization records and makes adjustment in operations to correct problems.

Prepares operating instructions and work plans to be followed by subordinate workers in accomplishing critical or emergency work projects.

Spot checks work operations to assure production and quality standards are met. Coordinates work operations with other organizations and functions. Encourages employees to achieve management goals.

Recommends promotion or reassignment of subordinate supervisors and reviews personnel actions prepared by them. Determines training needs for all levels of subordinates.

Promotes and administers such programs as cost reduction, incentive awards, suggestions, and quality assurance.

Ensures that regulations governing safety and housekeeping are observed with appropriate protective clothing and equipment being utilized.

Assures that subordinate supervisors carry out such programs as labor-management and equal opportunity.

Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. Performs other duties as assigned.
