This vacancy is for aWG-2805-10, Electrician located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION FACILITY MIAMI in MIAMI BEACH, Florida.

Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements: Ability To Do the Work of the Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element) to be considered eligible for the position.

To meet the screen-out, examples of the duties includes: Operation and installation of a variety of complete electrical systems and equipment, such as series, parallel, and compound circuits for single and multiple phase alternating current of varying voltage, amperage, and frequency; Wiring systems in industrial complexes and buildings; Power or regulating and control circuits and distribution panels to industrial machinery, ships' control equipment, computers or laboratory and other electrical equipment.

National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

You will serve as an Electrician and be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical wiring systems, fixtures, controls, and equipment in industrial, institutional, office, and residential building, and on ships.

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.

Typical work assignments include: Installing, modifying, repairing, loading and testing systems, circuits, equipment and controls with little or no check during the progress or upon completion of the work.

Interpreting and applying the National Electrical Code, local codes, building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings, and uses trade formulas to calculate common properties e.g., voltage, voltage drop and current capability in series and parallel circuits.

Determining location of existing electrical devices and service entrances and placing new ones.

- Planning and laying out work, tracing hard-to-locate defects or problems, and completing repairs and installations.
