This job involves leading a team of electricians in a naval shipyard, overseeing their daily work on electrical tasks, ensuring everything is done safely and efficiently, and handling things like ordering supplies and checking job plans.
It's a temporary role that could become permanent, based at a shipyard in Maine.
A good fit would be someone with hands-on electrical experience who enjoys managing people and has a strong focus on safety and following rules.
You will serve as an ELECTRICIAN SUPERVISOR I in the TEMPORARY SERVICES SHOP, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
***APPOINTMENT TYPE: TEMPORARY PROMOTION NOT TO EXCEED 1 YEAR AND MAY BECOME PERMANENT WITHOUT FURTHER COMPETITION*** Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE, such as: Planning the division of workload among subordinates based on capabilities of assigned and available employees, materials and equipment, and taking necessary corrective action to avoid delays.
Requisitioning tools, materials and equipment needed, determining the most efficient use of these items. Interpreting blueprints and preparing layouts, patterns, and sketches.
Overseeing the use of safety equipment.
Adhering to non-nuclear and/or nuclear guidelines, such as the Nuclear Power Manuals, Radiological Controls for Shipyard, Radiological Work Practices Handbook to perform duties.
Applicants must meet the requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualification Handbook for Trades and Labor Occupations.
