Job Description

Summary

This job is for an experienced master electrician working for the State of Michigan in downtown Lansing, where you'll handle all kinds of electrical tasks like maintenance, construction, and remodeling on state buildings, often independently without much supervision.

You'll team up with other tradespeople, use various tools, and focus on providing excellent customer service to tenants and staff.

About DTMB:
The Department of Technology, Management and Budget supports the business operations of state agencies through a variety of services, including building management and maintenance, information technology, centralized contracting and procurement, budget and financial management, space planning and leasing, construction management, motor vehicle fleet operations, and oversight of the state retirement systems.

About this position:
This is the experienced (master) level. The employee obtains permits, performs electrical work as required by law, and performs the full range of technical aspects of electrical work. The employee uses considerable independent judgment in making decisions without the availability of supervision. The employee will work in concert with other Electricians and trades to perform a full range of electrical assignments for projects on state properties as required for maintenance, construction, and remodeling. The employee will use a wide range of power tools and other equipment appropriate to the work. The employee will provide customer service with courtesy, respect, and attention to detail, work cooperatively with staff, and assure all staff are customer service oriented, expressing a positive and helpful outcome to projects and during daily interaction with tenants.

Signing Bonus:
This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus up to $5,000. Up to $1,500 to be paid upon new hire and the remainder to be paid after satisfactory completion of the initial probationary period (12-month period). This does not apply to current state employees.
