Job Description

Summary

This job involves maintaining, repairing, and testing electrical systems in a state prison, including power distribution, security cameras, lighting, emergency backups, and fire safety equipment.

The role also includes supervising inmate workers on maintenance tasks.

To provide maintenance, repair, renovation, and testing of the physical plant electrical distribution systems, electronics, security systems, CCTV, lighting, emergency power, fire detection and suppression systems, and electrical components of all systems and equipment for the Huron Valley Complex. Position supervises prisoner workers on maintenance details.

This is a test designated position.

Education

Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.


Experience

One year of electrical trade experience equivalent to an Electrician Licensed 9.

Additional Information

Possession of a journeyman electrician's license.

New hires to the MDOC along with previous MDOC employees that are returning after being away from the department for more than two years will complete Non-Custody New Employee Training (NCNET) either 40 hours or 80 hours of initial in-person training based on their level of offender contact and job classification. All new employees will complete additional online training to successfully complete their non-custody new employee training.
