Full Job Description

As an electrical utility engineer with Facilities Engineering Branch at Wallops Flight Facility, you will be responsible for overseeing the electrical infrastructure.

In this role, you will manage planning, design, and construction efforts required to repair and upgrade electrical infrastructure to meet the mission needs.

The incumbent will also support operation and maintenance by consulting on electrical matters.

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level: Managing or coordinating facilities engineering design and construction activities for infrastructure repair, upgrade, or modification projects; Developing electrical engineering designs or technical requirements for facility systems or infrastructure improvements through engineering analysis and design development; and Providing engineering support for facilities projects by reviewing designs, developing scopes of work, or coordinating with project teams and contractors during planning or construction activities.

To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level: Managing large or complex facilities engineering design and construction projects involving electrical infrastructure repair, upgrade, or modification; Developing engineered solutions for electrical infrastructure improvements through advanced engineering analysis, design oversight, and coordination with multidisciplinary engineering teams; and Providing engineering support for facilities projects, including coordinating with stakeholders, reviewing engineering designs, and guiding project execution.

  • Coordinates with Safety to ensure electrical infrastructure at Wallops Flight Facility complies with relevant safety codes and standards.
  • Provides engineering expertise supporting operation, reliability, and modernization of electrical infrastructure required to support mission operations.
  • Coordinates with other NASA Centers and stakeholders on electrical infrastructure planning, modernization strategies, and engineering best practices.
  • Leads multidisciplinary engineering teams in planning, design, and implementation of electrical infrastructure projects.
  • Leads facilities engineering initiatives involving multiple infrastructure systems and engineering disciplines.
