Full Job Description

Election Center Associates assist the Deputy Director of Elections, the Election Center Supervisor, and the Election Services Vendor in maintaining the Election Center and carrying out the preparation of election machines, poll worker supplies, ballots, and other Election Day equipment or supplies.

Agency Summary

The Election Board oversees federal, state, county, city, and school district elections in Marion County.

The board’s administrative duties include accepting campaign finance and candidate filing forms, handling election ballots, maintaining voting machines, training election officials, and counting and certifying votes.

Requirements

IMPORTANT: This position requires each candidate have the ability to repetitively lift 35-50lbs. (thirty-five to fifty pounds).
Under the supervision of the Election Center Supervisor, the Election Center Associate responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to

Maintaining the Election Center by cleaning and organizing office, production, and storage areas, keeping management aware of supply inventories, immediately bringing any injuries or broken or defective supplies or equipment to management's notice.Being trained and having a working knowledge of all election details, nomenclature, and Election Day supplies and equipment.Keeping detailed records of supply and machine inventories.Receiving, inventory, and organize all Election Day supplies.Preparing poll worker and support staff supplies for Election Day.Working with the Election Services Vendor and the Deputy Director to prepare and assist in testing all Election Day machines.Receiving, inventory, and prepare for distribution all Election Day ballots.Assembling poll worker and mechanic kits.Preparing all election machines and supplies for distribution to polling sites.Supporting the Satellite Voting/Early Voting Sites with supply or equipment delivery, as directed by management.Preparing the Election Center for Election Day activities.Being available on Election Day to help solve problems and run supplies or equipment to polling sites.Being comfortable with local/national media in the building from time to time.

Candidates will never be asked and should never speak to the media during business hours.Receiving, sorting, and storing Election Day supplies and machines from the regional sites on Election Night.Preparing the Election Center for post-election canvassing.Cleaning, organizing, and preparing the Election Center for the off-season.

Additional Information For day to day assignments, little to no independent judgment is necessary as the majority of tasks will be prescribed and supervised; however, working in a production/warehouse environment can be hazardous and good judgment must constantly be used around heavy machinery, stacks of boxes, cleaning solutions, etc.

Training will be included.
